Hello, everyone. Welcome to a new video on this channel. For today's video, we've got a beauty. It's the ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED UX325EA with an Intel Core i5 1135G7, 16GB of LPDDR4-4266 soldered RAM and Intel Iris Xe Graphics. Due to the fact that the RAM is soldered, it's impossible to upgrade it later on. But 16GB is still OK for every application in 2022.
Having an ultrabook that I could consider high-end, basically because of the use of an OLED screen, is no longer an exclusive option for those who have a large budget to buy their new laptop.
The ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED is an ultrabook option with the latest Intel hardware, a compact design, and, above all, an OLED screen that stands out above all else. But if there is something that will arouse your interest, it is because of its price, which is below 1000 euros. The tested i5 model in this video is available for around 900 euros right now.
Also, performance-wise regarding games, the Zenbook did a solid job. The performance might have been a bit lower compared to larger laptops with the same specs. Asus has been choosing a pretty conservative power plan for this device. But still, you're able to play nearly all of today's most popular titles, besides Call of Duty: Warzone, at a decent frame rate. Of course, you'll have to lower the resolution scaling or the settings because the Iris Xe obviously isn't a powerhouse. But still, the overall performance in games has been just fine, considering it's an ultrabook.
So, in 2022, can I recommend the Intel Core i5 1135G7 and Intel Iris Xe Graphics? Yes, for sure. With the exact same specs, there are also devices available for around 600 euros. Of course, it comes with a way lower build quality than the Asus Zenbook. Also, make sure to get one with at least 16 GB of RAM. 8GB is simply outdated for gaming in 2022.
If you ask me about a good alternative to the i5, well, I'd have to mention the Ryzen 5 5500U. I also made a video on this APU a couple of weeks ago. Be sure to check that one out. It might be a good option considering AMD is delivering better performance in games if paired with dual-channel RAM. Also, the driver support regarding regular driver updates is way better on AMD devices than on Intel.
However, that's it for my voiceover. I hope you're going to like this video. You'll probably find some interesting results here that you wouldn't have expected. At least I was surprised very positively.
