Who owns the moon? According to the governing law, the Outer Space Treaty, no one does. Actually more accurately, the moon is owned by all nations collectively. We sit down with renowned space law professor, Frans von der Dunk to get the details.

According to Prof. von der Dunk, the Outer Space Treaty governs. Nations are not permitted to claim territory to the exclusion of others. If bases are established on the moon, they must be non-military and must permit reasonable visitation from other nations. So what will this mean when it comes to mining or harvesting resources from the moon? Prof. von der Dunk explains.
