We're Not In Competition
A slightly salty interaction recently confirmed a fear I have in people and what they think about the relationship between peers: that us composers are all "in competition with each other". I don't believe this to be true, and to seek opportunities to 'demotivate' each other puts us in a slippery dangerous position, to hold a reputation as the narcissist that you strived to avoid becoming.
