Installing the MPLAB® X IDE and its XC8 compiler on Linux
The following tutorial explains the installation process for the MPLAB® X IDE editor and its XC8 compiler on the Linux operating system. We used the Linux Mint distribution, which is based on Ubuntu, and therefore the procedure described here applies to other Ubuntu- or Debian-based distributions as well.
