Canada just revealed six new nation-building megaprojects — and they’re set to redefine the country’s energy, mining, and infrastructure future. In this video, we break down Prime Minister Mark Carney’s newest announcements, why the reveal was held in Terrace, B.C., and what these massive projects mean for every region of Canada.

Many expected a “Northern Gateway 2.0” announcement after reports of Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith negotiating a new interprovincial energy framework. But instead, the federal government unveiled a sweeping list of megaprojects that will shape Canada’s economic direction for decades.

FULL BREAKDOWN OF THE SIX NEW PROJECTS:

🌐 Ksi Lisims LNG (British Columbia)
An Indigenous-led LNG export terminal with capacity up to 1.6 bcf/day — becoming Canada’s second-largest LNG facility. Billions in investment, thousands of jobs, and a new model for Indigenous energy partnerships.

⛏ Sisson Mine (New Brunswick)
A major tungsten and molybdenum project backed by over $20M from the U.S. Department of Defence and $8.2M from Canada. Strengthens North American supply chains for critical minerals essential to EVs, wind turbines, and defence technologies.

⚡ Crawford Nickel Project (Ontario)
One of the world’s largest undeveloped nickel deposits. Expected to contribute more than $70 billion to Canada’s GDP and anchor Ontario’s EV and battery-manufacturing future with low-emission mining and carbon-capture integration.

🔋 Nouveau Monde Graphite Phase 2 (Quebec)
A fully integrated, zero-emission graphite mining and processing operation — positioning Quebec as a global leader in clean battery materials powered by hydroelectricity.

💧 Iqaluit Hydro Project (Nunavut)
A transformative renewable-energy project reducing dependence on diesel, lowering emissions, cutting costs, and building long-term northern energy sovereignty.

🔌 National Transmission Expansion
Major interprovincial power lines to move clean electricity across Canada — the backbone of the country’s future electrified economy.

WHY THESE PROJECTS MATTER
• Boosts regional employment and economic growth
• Strengthens Canada’s critical mineral and clean-energy supply chains
• Reduces emissions and modernizes infrastructure
• Enhances national security and resource independence
• Positions Canada as a global clean-tech and energy supplier

Yet behind the optimism lies a deeper question: Did these megaprojects only move forward because the federal government fast-tracked them through regulatory bottlenecks? And what does that mean for Canada’s competitiveness?
