I've been sample-curious for a long time so decided it was time to learn how to make my own from whatever sound I can find and record myself. Calkwalk is a good DAW for this because it is easy to export tiny sections of recordings into .wav files without too much hassle or extra programs. Actually being able to use those samples as a pitched instrument is pretty easy too, once I knew what I needed: a plug-in sampler instrument. I found a great article listing out several free sampler plugins here: https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2010...
I ended up downloading Grace, which you can get for free here:

This opens up huge avenues of creativity, and I hope it can help you too!

Note about me: I am a lady producer trying to encourage other folks, especially lady-types, to dive into music production as it is currently a very male-dominated profession. I want to level up my music skills and if you do too, let's do it together and not be intimidated by anything that could stop us from making art. Need help with your project? Hire me on Soundbetter!
