GeoTalks: Mapping Tree Density Using Lidar Data – A Tool For Wildfire Risk Assessment
In this session, Dr. Dwayne Tannant demonstrates how he used Global Mapper to create a tool for wildfire risk assessment amid the disastrous wildfires in Canada. After watching a nearby neighborhood lose 200 homes this past summer in a wildfire, he was determined to analyze the hazard and develop a resource they could use to prevent further damage. In this vein, Dr. Tannant also explores options for wildfire prevention based on his findings.
