The term "elevated horror" has become popular with film critics in the mid to late 2010s, but is it a useful or meaningful term?
This podcast episode launches the Horror and Gothic Media Cultures series' monthly podcast and discussion group. The discussion is open to scholars (including graduate scholars), writers, and creative practitioners working in the area of horror and Gothic media. The discussion each month will address the "provocation" offered by the podcast episode.
Horror and Gothic Media Cultures is a book series published by Amsterdam University Press. The editors are Jessica Balanzategui (Senior Lecturer in Cinema and Screen Studies, Swinburne University of Technology); Angela Ndalianis (Professor in Media and Entertainment, Swinburne University of Technology) and Isabella van Elferen (Professor of Music and Director of the Visconti Studio, Kingston University London).
