SideFX Houdini Tutorial - Texturing In It's Simplest Form
This is NOT an advanced texturing video. It is only here to show you the quick concept of one way to do textures without using the shelf tools. It doesnt cover tweaking your texture in any way at all, it just covers roughly applying it. As always there is 100 ways to do everything in Houdini and with the new shelf tools in Houdini 9, those numbers just got higher, but I wanted to show you one way to do it without using the texture buttons on the new texture shelf. Those are more of a one click solution. Its best to start with the most bare bones way in order to build a good foundation of understanding instead of just clicking a button and it working. Its best to learn how its working or building what your doing. Build the texture then go back and use teh shelf tools and when you do you will know what Houdini is doing when you use the apply texture button. You'll know how it's building it instead of just knowing how to click a button
