In the last few decades, a growing number of texts written by Iberian women have found their way into the literary canon. Although this expansion of the canon is promising, many more women writers and their works continue to languish in relative obscurity. More Than Muses—a comprehensive database of women writers from the Iberian Peninsula from the Middle Ages through the 19th century—comprises author biographies, links to full digitized texts, and current bibliographic information on literary criticism of the included texts. This site also serves as a repository for new editions and translations of works which will be searchable by author, title, century, region, and language. This digital library will facilitate the dissemination of lesser-known texts, promote research on Iberian women writers, and encourage the teaching of their works in Spanish, Portuguese, Comparative Literature, and Women’s Studies courses in the United States and in other countries throughout the world.
