1002ann - “What about the eighteen people on whom the tower in Sending Village (Siloam) fell? Do you think they were worse than all the others Living in Village of Peace (Jerusalem)?”
1003erv - What a thought - it reminds me not to forget the daily providential care of God. Case in point, last week, those 23 ice fishers suddenly separated a mile from shore, on out-of-control broken ice drifts, calling on their cell phones and hoping for helicopter rescue before it’s too late.
1004ann - They all escaped with only minor injuries or hypothermia.
1005erv - I hope nobody rubs salt in their wounds. I’ve had close calls because of my own choices, and stuff happens, often at the worst possible time.
1006ann - Proverbs 14 verse 21 reads: It is a sin to belittle one’s neighbor.
1007erv - A famous Antarctic explorer named Richard E. Byrd survived 5 months of extreme, even 50 below weather by himself in 1934. Carbon monoxide and fatigue almost did him in, but he got rescued and had another 22 and a half years to get on with his life.
1008ann - I heard he named the largest territory in the world that is still unclaimed after his wife, and that after his death Antarctica was reserved for peaceful scientific research. Do you think his efforts helped things to turn out that way?
1009erv - Probably. Who knows what those 23 who got rescued are going to experience before all is said and done. Psalms 66 verse 9 reads: Our lives are in his hands.
1010ann - I was born on a small farm in Manitoba. I moved and married and mothered and even travelled to every continent except Antarctica. None of us are the same but for what it’s worth - and it’s worth a lot, every life is of interest to God the Father. Within His family, the promise everlasting is the same - I am with you no matter what and the best is yet to come!
1011erv - God, make this day completely divine, Father, Son, Holy Ghost, North-South-East-West & God, thank you for the search teams that rescued the 23 endangered souls. Please bless those searchers with rest and support and safety. And please help the 23 who were rescued, and their families and friends to recover fully from every concerning dread and shocking after-effect. Please help each of them and each of us feel your gracious relief and to see opportunities worth pursuing as you teach us to number our days arightly. And God, may your benefits moreover flow as we address and confess any and every sin that’s earned guilt and distance and hurt and darkness. Whosoever will may come to God, who is listening now. He’s ready to run towards the one needing embrace and forgiveness and life eternal. Without force, he’s asking admission. Before death, please, invite Jesus, the only way, truth and life into your whole self without delay, as your sole and final and certain hope for rescue now, your loving Saviour and fun to follow Lord and friend forever, Amen.
