Sat-Tal trek is basically one of the most common treks of Uttarkashi. While doing this trek we will find 7 different tal (ponds) and because of these Tal's this trek got its name. So we started our journey from Uttarkashi. It was an unplanned trip. It was so unplanned that even you can see in the video I don't have time to pack my trek pants, so I somehow managed to complete this trek in my jeans only.
So after our departure from Uttarkashi, we reached Dharali village. It's a village from where we have to start our 3km trek. Basically, Sat-Tal is a beginner's trek. It's not that tough but I bet you will surely enjoy the beauty of nature here trees are very different from the normal ones they are very sharp and pointed. While on trek you will find many apple trees and different kinds of flora and fauna. The interconnected lakes are enveloped by the dense lush greenery of pine trees which offer a picturesque landscape that is a treat to the eyes. The region is one of the hidden jewels in Uttarakhand and boasts of unspoiled natural beauty. So here on your trek, you will see different tal's. As from the name it is understood that there are 7 Tal's but some of them are dried up and one of them is mysterious. We found a total of 5 Tal's amongst which one tal was dried up. Unluckily we couldn't manage to find the last 2 remaining Tal's as our guide told us that the sixth tal is dangerous as they have encountered bears many times near that tal and we tried to find the seventh tal but we couldn't. The locals believe about the seventh tal that only the people with good luck can find the 7th tal. As there are very few numbers of people who have been to 7th tal. Don't know whether this story is true or not but we believe that this might be the reason that we were not able to discover the seventh tal. Overall if you want to spend some quality time with nature and have a good trekking experience this place is good to go.
