Thanksgiving Lake Effect Snow-65 MPH+ Winds-WHITEOUT Conditions-THUNDERSNOW!
An intense band of lake effect snow setup across metro Buffalo and the northtowns before dropping south into ski country. Winds gusted up to 68 MPH confirmed at the Buffalo airport creating blizzard conditions at times. Snow was mixed with graupel for most of the event as the cold air was marginal. This led to consistent thundersnow across the area. Snowfall totals in the hardest hit areas reached 2 feet.
