Useful things from plastic bottles. Organizer for small items. Trash to treasure DIY
TRASH INTO USE - we'll be making useful, beautiful, and helpful things out of various trash, instead of throwing them away. To start, we'll give a second life to plastic bottles of various sizes.
First, I'm making a piggy bank that matches the color of our loft interior. The base is a 1.5-liter plastic bottle. I also used straws from advertising brochures, painted with wood preservative. Generally, wood stain is used for this. I usually have brochures at home; I use them when painting things.
Next, I made an organizer for small items; I'll use it to store office supplies. I made a ribbon for the organizer out of rags (made from a soft cotton T-shirt); any ribbon you have will do. I used a 2-liter bottle.
And for the holiday, I also managed to make gift wrapping in the shape of a cedar cone out of a 1.5-liter bottle. You can fill it with sweets or small gifts. This pine cone looks very festive under the tree. I haven't filled mine yet, but I'll do that closer to the holiday. Besides the bottle, I needed glitter foamiran (plain foamiran and isolon will work) and an iron to shape the cedar scales.
Finally, I made a small but very cute winter hat! I used a bottle strip and some yarn. You can use a tube instead of the bottle strip. I decorated a small Christmas tree with the hat. It can also be used as a Christmas tree ornament for a larger one. But I also tried to dress up a cat in it.
