Episode 4 of SAWDUST focuses on our craftsmen at work.
We start back at our 1703 Grist Mill project where Project Manager Aaron Sesin shares #CraftsmanTips on installing cedar shingles. Beyond the “how to” -- Aaron gives us the 101 on why #CedarShingles have been such a popular choice for roofs and siding throughout New England over the past few centuries.
Then, we catch up with Doug Barlow, one of SBIs young and up-and-coming carpenters, for a look inside his toolbelt.
Our final stop is the Modern Farmhouse project, where Doug helps Lead Carpenter Kevin Barker install traditional nickel gap interiors for streamlined look.
Watch along as Kevin Barker gives us a how-to installation tutorial, and explains #NickelGap vs #Shiplap, setting the record straight on the difference between the two!
