Chicken hypnosis
You've probably seen that video where a chicken is held on the ground and a line is drawn in front of it, causing it to become stuck there and enter a trance. Now, seeing this, you might think you've hypnotized the chicken, but something else is actually going on in the chicken's mind. When you hold the chicken on the ground and draw a line like that, it senses danger, so to protect itself, the chicken makes a face as if it were dead. The chicken will remain in this state until it's distracted or moved. It's a self-defense mechanism, but we consider it hypnosis. Amazing man.
