Shawn and I have known each other for about 5 years now, and I always appreciated and look forward to opportunities to make music together. Besides sharing the same birthday, we share a common approach to music and collaboration. I think this one of the reasons we’ve enjoyed performing with each other – in orchestras, small ensembles, and as a duet – at numerous concerts and events over the years.
I thought it was important to put together an arrangement to reflect the kind of music that Shawn and I often perform at weddings and private functions – usually relaxed interpretations of classical music, show tunes, and jazz classics. I grew up listening to the "Mamma Mia!" cast recording on summer road trips, and I had a lot of fun arranging its music in a similar style.
