Enabling dark mode in Telegram is a quick and easy way to reduce eye strain, save battery on OLED screens, and simply enjoy a sleeker interface—especially during nighttime use. Telegram gives you the flexibility to either sync the app’s appearance with your device’s system theme or manually switch between light and dark modes whenever you prefer.

To begin, open the Telegram app and make sure you're logged in. If your phone is already set to dark mode at the system level, Telegram will automatically follow that setting. Likewise, if your device switches back to light mode, Telegram will reflect that change unless you've chosen a specific manual theme.

If you want to control the theme manually within Telegram, start by tapping the three-line menu icon in the top-left corner. Then, tap on "Settings." Inside the Settings menu, scroll down and select "Chat Settings." This is where you can personalize your chat appearance, including font size, bubble style, and most importantly—theme.

Look for the option called "Color Theme" or "Switch to Night Mode." Tap on "Switch to Night Mode," and Telegram will immediately apply a dark color scheme across the app. You can also explore other themes such as “Dark,” “Arctic Blue,” or “Midnight” under the color options, depending on how dark or muted you want your interface to be.

These settings are fully reversible, so you can switch back to light mode any time by returning to the same menu and selecting “Switch to Day Mode.”
