I must sing the most tragic "forbidden romance" you missed cuz it's in an obscure GBA SRPG [🎷📖]
Imagine being a young lordling knight sent to a backwater island to pacify an uprising...but it turns out that this island is the home of a Mermaid Legend and the lore of fallen angels. But the Mermaid is not merely legend. Even today, the sea runs salty with the grieving mermaid's tears... This is Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis.
Lyrics:
Exiled from her kind for her Batraal/betrayal
To the sea she hides so none may slay her
She of golden scales lived for four hundred years
Seas of the isle preserved through her tears
There...there will never be a different story
Ev...ev'ry time the wheel turns it turns all the same!
Mmm...the folly of every man, woman, fae, angel or demon:
"Maybe we can change fate if our intentions are good enough...
"Give us just a chance - another chance! - to make the world into a beautiful place
for God's throne!"
mermaid vocalizing
There...there will never be a different story
Ev...ev'ry time the wheel turns it turns all the same
The same! The same! The same every time it's THE SAME!
