The documentary series "The Sounding Word. A Sublime and Defenseless Genre" tells the story of the development of artistic expression in Russia as a theatrical genre and its outstanding representatives: A. Ya. Zakushnyak, V. N. Yakhontov, D. N. Zhuravlev, Ya. M. Smolensky, I. V. Ilyinsky, S. Yu. Yursky, V. S. Lanovoy, R. A. Kleiner, A. M. Kuznetsova, T. O. Selezneva, P. E. Lyubimtseva and others.
Each episode of the series is a separate chapter of the genre's multi-volume historical legacy, narrated by young masters of literary expression.
During the narrative, the project's hosts: Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Daria Yurskaya, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Arsentyev, and theater and film actors Maria Kozakova and Alexander Asharin embark on a fascinating journey to the origins of the "Sounding Word"—the birthplace and formation of these great reciters—to not only touch history but also to understand the nature of their inspiration.
Filming took place in 14 regions of the Russian Federation: Moscow and the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, the Leningrad, Yaroslavl, Kaluga, Oryol, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Volgograd, and Astrakhan Regions, the Republic of North Ossetia and Stavropol Krai, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
