Linux freedom gets talked about a lot, but this is one of the clearest examples of what it actually means in practice.
I installed Ubuntu 26 beta, started poking around, and before long I was stripping out Snap, ditching GNOME, moving over to KDE, and reshaping the whole system into something that suited me better. Same base underneath, very different experience by the end.
That is the part of Linux I still value most. You are not stuck with the defaults. You can remove what you do not want, replace what does not fit, and shape the system around how you actually like to use your computer.
This video is about that moment, why it stood out to me, and why Linux still feels so different from the locked-down direction a lot of modern tech keeps pushing people towards.
