Filya and I arrived in our not-yet-equipped van to the highlands, finding the perfect spot by a fast-flowing mountain river!
Filya isn't a big fan of long car rides, but the reward is always worth it—running freely on the soft grass in such an incredible place. The moment we arrived, he dashed off to explore while I got busy setting up camp.
As the sun began to set, I managed to get a fire going to make tea and smoke some meat. But then, a strong wind swept in, and it got very cold, forcing me to finish cooking on my new gas stove.
Knowing the night would be chilly, I came prepared. I brought two sleeping bags rated for -15°C and -7°C, a new insulated rug, and a sturdy camp bed. For extra warmth, I bundled up in the coziest oversized jumpsuit. That night, the sound of the mountain river lulled me into a peaceful sleep.
Morning came with a brisk start—I took a daring dip in the icy river. The current almost swept me away, and the freezing water was like nothing I had ever felt before. It was an unforgettable experience.
Afterward, I warmed up with the most delicious cup of morning coffee, enjoying the breathtaking view of the mountains.
