I blew up the Engine!
Somewhere outside Gdańsk, the head gasket of my Honda Dominator NX 650 blew, spraying oil everywhere. I was supposed to reach Riga for the rebuild… instead, the rebuild started right here, on the roadside.
I can’t believe I’m saying this… but I’m back on the old Honda.
After two years, new gear, and a lot of electric miles on Eve. I’m freezing my way through Germany, heading north instead of south. Everyone said I was crazy to do this in winter and maybe they’re right. This ride is 700 kilometers of cold wind, fuel stops, family goodbyes, and mechanical surprises. The Honda’s engine was supposed to get rebuilt in Riga but halfway through Poland, it decided to remind me who’s boss. Oil leaks, ticking valves, and now probably a blown head gasket.
But that’s part of the deal when you travel with an old bike. You don’t ride it because it’s easy, you ride it because it’s alive. Every sound means something, every stop matters, and somehow it still gets you where you need to go.
In this episode, I’m saying goodbye to my family, pushing through -2°C weather, figuring out gas payments that don’t work in Germany, and trying not to freeze solid before I hit the Baltic coast. No charging breaks this time just me, the road, and a 36-year-old Honda that refuses to quit.
