The gallbladder (Latin: vesica fellea) is a reservoir for bile storage. It is located on the visceral surface of the liver in the fossa of the same name. Its parts are the fundus, body, and neck, which merges with the cystic duct. The wall of the gallbladder consists of three layers: connective tissue, muscular tissue, and mucous membrane. It has fine, irregular folds, and a spiral fold in the neck and cystic duct.
