So the first thing you will want to do is import your video into imovie, click on file import from camera. Once your file is in your project library. Select the footage you want to time lapse and drag and drop it into the iMovie timeline. If you double click your video clip, an inspector window will come up. In order to speed up or slow down a clip in iMoive you will have to the click convert entire clip video button. You will notice on my screen that there is no convert video button because I have already converted this clip previously. After you have converted your video, you can increase the speed, if you move the speed slider all the way up you will notice that it only goes to 800%. I've found that if you click on the adjacent box, it will allow you to speed up videos to 2000% and make super slow motion videos at -2000%. Speeding up my video 2000% made my clip go from 12 minutes to 36 seconds long. If you want to speed your video up even faster or slow it down even slower, export your video to your desktop, open up a new iMovie project, then re-import your video from the desktop and repeat the earlier process. By doing this you can exponentially increase or decrease the speed of your videos without having to spend a ton of cash on expensive editing software.
