Es5 vs es6
ES 5 vs. ES 6? Well What is ES 5 and what is ES6. And should I even bother learning ES5 anyway now that ES 6 is out now. If ES5 is just eight old programming language? Why should I even bother? Let’s start at the very start. ES5 is not a programming language. ES5 is the way that JavaScript is allowed to be written. It is the javascript srandard. Also called ECMAScript. All major JavaScript implementations have actually been implementations of the ECMAScript standard. Es6, All major JavaScript implementations since have actually been implementations of the ECMAScript6 is simply a newer standard the es5, or ECMAScript5.. It is purely the syntax. But at its core JavaScript is exactly the same. ES5 is simply an older standard by which you write JavaScript. And the reality is that most of the Internet (and I mean like 99% of it) is still going to be written in ES5 for several years. When you are debugging code the likelihood is your problem isgoing to be debugged in ES5 code. ES5 JavaScript is not supior no inferior to ES6 JavaScript. They are both the exact same thing. ES5 written JavaScript is just read syntactically different. ES6 is the newest standard for writing JavaScript. At the time of this video at least, ES6 is the latests JavaScript standard. Because it is newer it is actually a little easier to write some things down. You still have the same functionality and ability from before but it can less code to write. This purely is syntax sugar it has nothing to do with the actual functionality of how the JavaScript Works. JavaScript is JavaScript. ES6 introduces the idea of things like classes so that you can go ahead and include classes into your JavaScript which is not a classical based language. But it’s actually not adding classes. JavaScript is a prototypical based language. I mean it uses prototypes not classes. The reason this is such a large deal is because the syntax of ES 6 gives the impression that it has new functionality. But in actuality it’s using some very nice standardize approaches to give you the syntactical advantage of writing as if you did have classes inside a JavaScript. I would argue that you should learn ES 5 before learning ES 6. For a number of reasons but the biggest is the reality that you are going to be mostly seen ES 5 so if you’re learning a JavaScript for the first time it makes the most sense that you would use the most practical approach. ES 6 can be learned afterward. The thing too is that because yes six is newer it tries to make the syntax easier to understand and more straightforward. This is of course great data could help speed up writing the actual code. But the course the problem is that if you are new to programming. I would make the argument that it actually stars too abstract old way from communicating to somebody who is new to code what exactly is going on. So when it comes to the question of if you should learn ES 5? My answer is yes absolutely and then you can learn ES 6. The number isn’t so much that it is ES 5 first ES 6. As much as it is unique in to learn ES 5. And then ES 6 as ES 6 will eventually become the new standard in the future. But like I said there’s so much code already written on the Internet. That it will take awhile before it becomes the complete common practice.

So there is now ES6 (also knowen as ECMAScript 2015) and even ES7 on it's way. These are the new standards for javascript. So should you even bother learning es5? It is going to be outdated?! And isn't going to be used moving foward. Why bother?

Let me first tell you the difference between the es5 and es6. What is es6 vs es5 and why should you care. Should you only learn es6? It's not that simple
