Ghost notes are useful for playing grooves in any genre of music, adding dynamic interest and sometimes imitating the feel of a shaker playing 16th notes.
The regular backbeat snare hits should be played in the centre of the head (or do a rimshot).
The ghost notes should be played softer and are typically played nearer the edge of the snare drum head.
As always, adjust the playback speed to suit your skill level.
