**UPDATE x 3 (lol): I tried out a Component video to VGA converter box and found that the device works, but makes the picture quite grainy. It cost me $50 on Amazon. A few links...

Here's the link to where I bought it: http://www.amazon.com/LinkStyle-LK-21...

And here's the link to my video review/notes on it, in case you want more info:    • HD Video Converter (Component to VGA) Revi...

**UPDATE x 2: So it turns out that the $10 device won't work. However, a few other devices will.

Try this $40 converter on for size: http://www.ebay.com/itm/YPbPr-VGA-Vid...

Or this $70 device, if you don't trust Chinese products.... http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-CP...

It's about $70 dollars, so you're still saving over $200 compared to the Atlona. Thanks to Alex Lickteig for pointing out this device to me!

Note that this $70 converter only supports resolutions up to 720p and 1080i... NOT 1080p. Honestly, 1080p is overrated in my eyes anyways, but that's another story.

Here's the comment that confirms it'll work for hooking up your 360 to a monitor. It also mentions that you should be careful not to accidentally plug the $70 converter's power supply into your capture device--it could kill it! http://www.amazon.com/review/R2OCDC31...

Here are some of the devices I talked about to help you play on a monitor that doesn't have component input and still be able to stream:

(don't use this one, it doesn't work for this) $10 converter: http://www.google.com/products/catalo...

Atlona VGA Scaler ($300): http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-VGA-to-C...

Here's some info about the hardware and software involved in my streaming setup:

Capture Device: Avermedia "AverTV USB HD DVR" (got mine for $115 on eBay)
Astro Mixamp (the small black and red glowing thing) and A40 headset
Streaming software: Xsplit Broadcaster (currently a free download here: http://www.xsplit.com/)
Webcam: Dynex 1.3MP Webcam

Here are some of the programs I used to make this video tutorial and why:

Audacity -- I used this for audio commentary over the pictures of the Atlona VGA Scaler and the Component-VGA converter. It's 100% free and open-source.

AVS Video Editor -- I used this for capturing video of my computer screen in the second half of the video. You can use it as a trial for free, but it'll give you watermarks at some points during whatever videos you create. It seems like a pretty good program overall and I might buy it and use it as my main program in the future. I do have a few complaints about it though, like the black frame around my screen-captured video, and a de-syncing of audio and video that happened in the later part of the recording.

Windows Live Movie Maker -- I used this program to put it all together, including video clips from my camera, audio recordings from Audacity, photos of the hardware, and screen recordings made with AVS Video Editor.

And, as a bonus, here's the video that I originally learned how to stream from (the "useful video" I mentioned:)    • Live Stream Tutorial for Console/PC Gaming...
