We invited Ortis Deley to take a look behind the scenes at our 5-acre UK manufacturing facility near Bath to learn more about the processes involved in the design and manufacture of our award-winning glass partitions and doors. Come on let’s take a look inside.
The journey starts here where Optima receive all the raw materials into their 15,000 sq. ft warehouse. Aluminium plays a huge role in the production of all of Optima’s framed partition and door systems. They process 450 tonnes of aluminium a year. Sleek, stylish, and sustainable, this lightweight, durable material not only gives their products an attractive aesthetic, but it is also 100% recyclable, making it a favourite choice for office partitioning.
Bespoke glass partitions as standard
Bespoke is Optima’s standard, every door frame and door is cut and then machined to meet the customer template. These state-of-the-art numerically controlled milling machines are programmed directly from CAD drawings reducing human intervention and the potential for error.
Largest UK manufacturer of aluminium glazed doors
Optima manufacture over 5000 doors per annum making them one of the largest manufacturers of aluminium glazed doors in the UK. Here in the new glass shop, you can really see Optima’s products taking shape. Skilled assembly teams start to put the final touches to the different glazed partition and door systems. The glass shop can build more than 25 doors per shift depending on type. They implement rigorous quality-checking procedures at every stage of the manufacturing process. Here you can see the technicians checking over each system as they work to ensure only the highest quality finished products go out to our clients.
Each year we invest more than half a million pounds in to research and development, we have a dedicated team and R&D facility which goes some way to show our deep commitment to maintaining the position of Optima as pioneers in our sector. Over the last five years we have invested £3 million in the development of the site. Expanding our facilities to meet the growing demand globally for Optima systems. Additionally, to this investment in the site, we have also invested £2.3 million in new plant and equipment to increase capacity and improve quality.
