Tracking the Tropics: Idalia nears hurricane strength (5 p.m. Monday)
Tropical Storm Idalia is nearing hurricane strength as it approaches western Cuba.
It is expected to bring life-threatening storm surge and dangerous winds, which is becoming increasingly likely for portions of Florida.
A hurricane warning is in effect from the middle of Longboat Key northward to Indian Pass, including Tampa Bay. A storm surge warning is in effect for Englewood northward to Indian Pass, including Tampa Bay.
