Starting Intrusive Characterization Work at High-Hazard Waste Site
Using Recovery Act funding, DOE contractor Washington Closure Hanford started intrusive characterization (excavating a portion of the waste site) of Burial Ground 618-10. Known as one of the most hazardous waste sites at the Hanford Site, 618-10 received highly contaminated waste from Hanford research and development facilities during the Cold War.
