Will Buurse still have a right to exist if the soil around the raised bog is rewetted?
To preserve and improve the raised bog of Haaksbergerveen and Buurserveen, the province of Overijssel has plans to rewet the area surrounding it. This would have a significant impact on the quality of life in Buurse. The neighborhood 't Siberie has used this opportunity to draw attention to these potential plans by creating an Ark of Siberia. An association has been formed, and residents of Buurse, Honesch, and Veldmaat are contributing ideas for alternative plans. In this way, they are trying to be a voice to the province.
During the Buurse Volksfeesten parade, the neighborhood marched with this ark, filled with farm animals. The float was so beautifully made that it won first prize for the best contribution to the parade. The neighborhood is challenging other Buursen residents to brighten up next year's parade with a float.
