Óin, older brother to Glóin, cousin to Dwalin and Balin, and uncle to Gimli, was a seasoned warrior who fought alongside Thorin Oakenshield in the Battle of Azanulbizar. He later joined Thorin's company on their epic quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain. Óin not only survived the Ba is thettle of Five Armies but also settled in the Lonely Mountain under King Dáin Ironfoot’s rule, enjoying a period of peace with fellow company members.
Decades later, Óin ventured to Moria with Balin, Ori, and other Dwarves to reclaim it for Durin's Folk. During their occupancy, Óin was dispatched to explore the Third Deep's Upper Armorie, before an orc attack. Tragically, while attempting to escape, Óin was seized by the Watcher in the Water. This grim fate was later discovered by the Fellowship of the Ring, through Ori's writings in the Book of Mazarbul found in Balin’s tomb.
