Exercise: Creating a Gear Design

Start a new drawing in AutoCAD.

Draw a rectangle: Use the Rectangle command to draw a rectangle with a specific length and width. For example, create a rectangle with a length of 10 units and a width of 6 units.

Offset the rectangle: Use the Offset command to create concentric rectangles around the original one. For example, offset the original rectangle by 1 unit to create a second rectangle inside it.

Draw circles: Use the Circle command to draw circles inside each rectangular shape. For example, draw a circle with a radius of 2 units at the center of the smallest rectangle.

Offset the circles: Use the Offset command again to create concentric circles around each original circle. For example, offset the first circle by 0.5 units to create a second circle inside it.

Draw ellipses: Use the Ellipse command to draw ellipses inside each circular shape. For example, draw an ellipse within the smallest circle to create a gear tooth shape. The length and width of the ellipse can be adjusted to achieve the desired gear tooth design.

Repeat the process: Repeat steps 4 to 6 to create additional gear teeth by drawing circles and ellipses within each concentric circle.

Complete the gear design: Continue adding concentric circles and ellipses until you achieve the desired number of gear teeth and the overall gear design.

This exercise allows you to practice using fundamental AutoCAD 2D commands to create a gear design. By combining the Rectangle, Offset, Circle, and Ellipse commands, you can build a basic representation of a gear.
