Synopsis: 1890, France. Young feline Mewsette announces to Jaune Tom, the cat who truly loves her, the she is leaving the farm and boarding the next train to Paris. But once in the City of Lights, the naïve Mewsette is easy prey for the devious Meowrice and his nefarious plan to marry the young beauty to a rich American ... for a commission. Undaunted, Jaune Tom and his friend Robespierre travel to Paris to find Mewsette--and no evil plot that Meowrice and his dastardly minions can devise will stop the heroic Tom from rescuing Mewsette.

Trivia:
• Original songs by Harold Arlen and E. Y. “Yip” Harburg
• The first animated feature film to be theatrically released by Warner Bros, and the second and final animated film by UPA (United Productions of America).
• Story written by Chuck Jones and his wife Dorothy. Chuck Jones had been under an exclusive contract with Warner Bros., and worked on this film in violation of his contract. After Warner Bros. picked up the film from UPA for distribution instead of Columbia, they discovered his work on the film and fired him, resulting in his departure for MGM.
