Thank goodness we live in this modern digital era! Check out how easy it can be to create your own custom FX networks and experiment with creative audio routing!

We should start by saying that, although there are other options floating around out there, the DDMF Metaplugin is a serious win on all fronts. Creative audio routing is not just something we do for fun, it's also something we do when we need a solution to a problem that is keeping us from making the music we want to make, the way we want to make it. And building custom FX networks is obviously a glorious perk to have in the studio when you need it.

The DDMF Metaplugin lets you load plugins in a sandbox environment, giving you complete control over creative audio routing amongst each other. This may sound a little complicated or ethereal at first, but once you start clicking and dragging cables, you'll quickly get the hang of it all. All of this without having to jump into programming languages or building complicated routing templates from scratch in your DAW.

What is the downside of such a wonderful plugin you ask? Well, you can only use 3rd party plugins in the Metaplugin environment in Logic because it only recognizes VST and Component elements, not Audio Units. You will also need to set up the plugins you want to have available in the Metaplugin environment ahead of time. So it does require either a bit of foresight on your part, or simply dedicating a small amount of time to add all of your plugins at once so, as once they have been added you never need to do it again.

Obviously, the benefits far outweigh any drawbacks. Just gaining the ability to use more creative audio routing ideas and conceive your own FX networking is reward enough to justify adding this gem to your arsenal.

Cheers,
