In this video, you will learn how to create a Spring Boot project using Kotlin, seeing from the start how the experience differs from Java, both in code writing and application organization. The video begins with the official template, explaining what to select in start.spring.io and why these dependencies already solve a good part of the initial configuration.
The application is ready to run from the start, and you will see how to launch the project locally and what actually happens when Spring is executed for the first time.
With the project running, you'll follow the code creation process in practice. The video shows how to create a controller, define routes, receive data via requests, and return organized responses using DTOs. Gradually, the logic moves from the controller to the service, clearly defining the role of each layer and avoiding the confusing code that often appears when everything is in the same place.
In the persistence section, you'll learn how to connect the application to an H2 database, create entities with JPA, and save data simply. Then, real-world error situations, such as duplicate data or missing records, will be shown, demonstrating how to handle these errors correctly and transform them into HTTP responses.
Following that, you'll see how to implement an HTTP redirect flow, understand the 302 status, and control clicks by updating information in the database.
The goal is for you to understand how a backend application with Spring Boot and Kotlin is built from scratch, with organization and clear logic for your application.
