Paint along with this simple watercolour tutorial to paint three stand-out sunflowers! These gorgeous yellow summer flowers are super easy to paint and perfect for watercolour beginners. This art tutorial will break it down into simple steps, starting with the centres in brown and adding sunny yellow petals and loose green leaves.
Sunflowers are instantly recognisable and it's that iconic shape that is suitable for loose watercolour style, because you don't need lots of intricate detail. This watercolour tutorial is perfect if you want to try out a loose style and improve your floral painting, and I give some of my favourite tips for a loose style in the video!
For this watercolour floral tutorial you will need:
Watercolour paint in brown, yellow and green. I'm using Winsor & Newton Professional watercolour paint, in Burnt Umber, Lemon Yellow Deep, Cadmium Yellow and Sap Green
Watercolour brushes - I'm using Princeton Heritage 4050R round size 8
Watercolour paper - I'm using Arches 100% Cotton cold press in a block, with four sides glued together to prevent warping
