A genus of large theropod dinosaurs. Therizinosaurs lived at the end of the Cretaceous period and were one of the last and largest representatives of their unique group - therizinosaurs. Described from the Nemeget Formation in Mongolia, the fossils were initially interpreted as belonging to a turtle. Only a few bones are known, including the giant claws from which it derives its generic name.
