What is Yom Kippur?
Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the Jewish year. It is the annual Day of Atonement, which God set aside for the covering of sins. It is a solemn day of “afflicting oneself” in repentance and recognition of the seriousness of sin before the Lord.
Messianic Jews observe Yom Kippur like other Jewish people – with fasting, prayer, attending services and abstaining from work. Jewish people observe Yom Kippur hoping God will “seal” their coming year with good. Messianic Jews understand that Jesus the Messiah has made atonement for our sins and provided us with confidence we are sealed in the Book of Life.
