Dyatlov Pass. Sergey Semyashkin's hypothesis.
These are the memoirs of seasoned traveler and Geographical Society member Sergei Semyashkin, who led an expedition to Dyatlov Pass to reconstruct the events of the tragedy that befell Igor Dyatlov's group in February 1959 near Mount Otorten. Consequently, the researcher put forward his own version of the death of Dyatlov's group.
In January–February 2010, a research expedition to Dyatlov Pass was conducted under the leadership of Sergei Semyashkin. The goal of the expedition was to recreate the conditions of Igor Dyatlov's 1959 expedition and to understand the numerous versions of the tragedy.
The expedition included tourists and travelers from the Komi Republic:
Sergey Vasilyevich Semyashkin (leader);
Nikolai Vasilyevich Rochev (deputy leader);
Sergey Alexandrovich Romanov;
Nikolai Osipov;
Sergey Ievlev; Denis Vityazev.
The expedition spent three and a half days at the pass, from January 29 to February 1.
Some results of the expedition:
On the first day, they found all the checkpoints, determined the location of the tent, and where the bodies were found.
On the second day, they clarified all the details and began the experiment. They photographed all the significant objects and determined their GPS coordinates.
On the third day, they accurately recreated the events of 1959. According to the expedition's calculations, the frightened Dyatlov group left the tent at 6:06 PM.
