Owl rescue early in Hillsboro, Missouri
At 3 AM, the Hillsboro PD called us for help with a Barred Owl that had been struck by a car. 🦉🚔 We rushed to the scene, picked up the owl, and safely transported it to the World Bird Sanctuary Raptor Hospital for immediate care.
Fun facts about Barred Owls:
1. Barred Owls are known for their distinctive "Who cooks for you?" hoot, a sound that’s easily recognizable in the forest.
2. These owls are powerful predators, primarily hunting small mammals and birds at night.
3. Barred Owls have excellent vision and hearing, making them effective hunters even in low light.
4. They're often involved in wildlife rescues due to their habitats overlapping with human developments.
