Stretch Disco presents: A Guy Called Gerald, live at Band on the Wall
A Guy Called Gerald is the stage name of Gerald Simpson, one of the pioneers of electronic dance music. Born in Manchester's Moss Side in 1967, Gerald has refined his DJ and producing skills in venues and studios on both sides of the Atlantic. Following formative years in Manchester -- where he was one of the founders of 808 State -- he lived and worked in New York, then London and more recently Berlin.
Gerald's long-standing vision is "to take the studio into the club" and this excerpt, filmed by Band on the Wall AV Unit on 11 March 2011, gives a glimpse of that vision, along with a collage of video shots from the Manchester venue.
