-Does it modify the files?
No, it does not in any way touch the files nor does it change any values inside
-How in the world does it even work then?
Good question. It is ReShade. It works through Window's DirectX drivers. It launches at the beginning that's it. It does not stay running in the background because Windows takes care of it after genshin is launched. ReShade renders the effects on your screen separately and does not really tamper with Genshin itself. In the end, all these effects are being called only on your monitor!
-Okay so since it doesn't do anything to the files nor does it run in the background..this means it totally safe?
Well, that would still depend on Mihoyo. But AFAIK it shouldn't.
