JavaFX: Hidden Sides Pane
I have implemented a new control which shows a content node and up to four (initially hidden) nodes on the sides. The hidden nodes become visible when the mouse enters the control. For my FlexGanttFX project I am using this control to show scrollbars when they are needed, similar to the way MacOS X is doing it.
