When you get a colonoscopy, the doctor uses a thin tube with a tiny camera to check the inside of your colon. You’ll be given medicine to help you relax or sleep, so you won’t feel anything. The doctor looks for things like small growths, called polyps, or other issues. If they find a polyp, they can usually take it out right away. After it’s done, you might feel a bit gassy or bloated because they use air to see better inside. But don’t worry—that feeling goes away in a few hours, and you’ll be back to normal quickly.
