Gigafactory Texas on 28 June 2023! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start!
Lots of activity today on an incredibly busy site. The biggest area of interest today is the Megapack site transformer installation, along with more concrete pads and electrical conduit trenching in the area where the actual Megapacks will be installed. Overall, the site is looking like it may be within a few weeks of being able to accept delivery of the 68 Megapacks, which will be quite the milestone once that occurs!
On the south end where the large section of exterior walls has been removed, today we see crews and a crane at work removing the steel columns and beams, which will open the entire section and allow the next phase of construction to start.
Over at the east side of the Battery Cathode plant, we see accelerating foundation work on the new structure, with many more wall section form installation, added rebar and concrete pours underway.
Finally, of interest, I was told of some interesting activity at the far north of the Giga Texas property in and around the old ranch house (which was purchased by Tesla from the original owners in late 2021). This is located over 2 miles (about 4 Km) north of the main factory! Although I got some really great views of the old ranch, I did not see any activity that might involve demolition or other work, but this trip to the north gave us a great opportunity to see the large rectangular grass area which houses a lot of materials and is permitted as the "North Logistics Lot". In addition, this gives a great overall view from the north to the south over most of the Giga Texas property and construction sites!

Other highlights from today include:
The west main entrance steel architectural beams and columns are now getting stainless-steel cladding installed! The section closest to the glass doors has the front and rear facing cladding installed and the top mount as well. More of the stainless-steel cladding was being delivered nearby as I flew the drone over this section of the site.
The large water well or "Cistern” on the southwest corner of the building is undergoing some modifications, and crews have excavated out the south side to about 10 feet (3 meters) below grade. in addition, an excavator has removed a section of the concrete structure on the south end, suggesting a connection for plumbing pipe will be made.
On the northwest corner of the building, the NawKaw crews have finished the white stain application on the exterior walls. The crews are just about to begin to apply the white stain on the north end of the building, which would indicate they have finished the entire west side of the structure!
On the northeast corner of casting, running along the east side where the berm has been widened, crews are busy installing electrical conduit and concrete vaults. Further south, we see crews removing a concrete section of the apron to allow for conduit trenching to the east wall perimeter grade beam and ultimately complete the conduit and tie it in to the existing conduit powering the factory right now.
Near the old house complex, we see tree movers at work preparing to relocate another old oak tree. This will be the fourth such tree removed and relocated from this area ahead of demolition work on the old house.
Also, I mention in the video introduction another personal drone flying milestone, exceeding 560 flight hours, 6,130 miles (9,680 Km) and over 2,160 overall flights over Giga Texas! This is just shy of the 3-year anniversary of construction start and my first flight back in July 2020!
