Happy 20 year anniversary, Halo 2!
As a kid, Halo was my first real introduction to sci-fi. The tone, story, and incredible cinematography in a video game pulled me into the genre and sparked my interest in VFX. When I was younger, I’d just sit at the Halo 2 menu, completely mesmerized by the amazing soundtrack by Marty O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori. It made me wonder about the vast Halo universe and the stories yet to come.
That inspiration led me to remaster a section of the mission Sacred Icon while capturing that nostalgic menu vibe. I know Blur Studio remastered Halo 2’s cutscenes, but I felt their take was a bit too "light" for this scene. In my version, I aimed to stay true to the darker tone Bungie originally set back in 2004. And YES I FIXED THE PHANTOM FLYING FORWARD!!! (deserves a like?)
I originally planned to release this for Halo 2’s 20th anniversary, but, well… life happens! Hope you enjoy it, don’t forget to subscribe for more!
