This is Gintama, the BEST Comedy of all time. Released in 2003, Gintama started out as a mostly unpopular series that creator Hideaki Sorachi had a hard time developing a story for. I wasn’t expecting it to blow my mind or anything, but what I didn’t expect is how much the next three years would change me as I made my way through Gintama.
From simple one to two-episode arcs about a turtle spirit, a secret illegitimate child, and one of the most depressing and emotional filler episodes in anime history to serious, action packed, and well-written arcs that change you as a person, Gintama executes what it knows best, being WEIRD.
Any other anime cannot be any weirder than Gintama, let alone as funny as Gintama, without making me feel all ranges of emotion.
