Project I.G.I. (I’m Going In) originated in the late 1990s, developed by Norwegian studio Innerloop Studios, a team with experience in military simulations and advanced 3D graphics technology. Their goal was to create a realistic tactical first-person shooter focused on stealth, planning, and large open environments rather than fast-paced arcade action. Built on Innerloop’s own powerful game engine and published by Eidos Interactive, IGI 1 was released for PC in 2000. Despite its minimal story and high difficulty, the game gained massive popularity worldwide—especially in South Asia—because it ran smoothly on low-end PCs and offered a serious, realistic military experience that many players still remember with nostalgia.
